I’ve been dreaming about how important it is to have a simple and pure Jesus curriculum for several years now. If we are going to be serious about following Jesus’ primary mandate to “make disciples of all nations”, doesn’t it make sense that we use a wholly Jesus curriculum?
Tamrat and I are building “another army” of disciples of Jesus, so we were careful to make THE WAY totally and uniquely a course of study about Jesus, from Jesus, and by Jesus. It’s about Jesus, the incomparable man who invites us to follow in his steps. It’s from Jesus, who embodies a superior message that continues to stand the test of time and is used by all who are interested in success and self-help today. It’s by Jesus, the incalculable model and standard by which everyone measures right and wrong, wise and foolish. THE WAY unpacks the substance of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus who is being transformed.
Jesus, on the road to Emmaus, had a progressive course of study in mind as he shared with the men: Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. Jesus may have had some loose progressive course of study in mind, when he said to make disciples by going, baptizing, and by teaching them to observe all I commanded you. Jesus spent 40 days teaching his early disciples: To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God. What Jesus felt was most important for them to get about the Kingdom was a progressive course of study that took several days. It was a “boot camp curriculum!”
We know there are hundreds, if not thousands, of small groups that continue to meet without any progressive course of study about Jesus. They don’t know what to do. They don’t know there is so much more to embrace about Jesus and the Kingdom. There are even more potential groups that either haven’t started to meet or began and faded away, because they don’t know what to do.
We believe disciples must not only know Jesus and his teachings, but must be conversant with what they know. To be conversant is evidence that they have embraced Jesus for themselves. Jesus never commanded us to make disciples of Christianity or of our particular denomination or Church. Christianity isn’t the way! Your Church isn’t the way. Jesus is THE WAY!
We now have a “just Jesus” progressive course of study that fuels the Jesus movement. We have planted THE WAY in the hands of leaders in nearly 60 nations. Are you on your way to THE WAY? Introduce it to your small group or start a new group.
We are teaching that small group is the way to transformation and discipleship…and it’s working! Is it working for you?
