GOT A MINUTE?

The second most natural tendency for control freaks is controlling life circumstances. When it comes to the essentials and circumstances of life, Jesus strongly urges his followers to stop worrying. “I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?…. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:18-34) You can’t control it, so work on your primary life response: KEEP ON SEEKING AFTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD!

The third most natural tendency for control freaks is controlling results. You can’t control the results of your actions in life, so don’t even try. If you focus on your results, you will never be free from the stresses of it all. Here are some thoughts on how to handle your results: 1) Do the best you can do. This is your primary responsibility and nothing more. 2) Leave the results entirely in the hands of God. In fact, results are none of your business. I am convinced God is personally at work in the midst of your results. He cares more than you do about your results!

I’ll never forget what an older pastor on our staff said to me, when our growth was exploding. He said: “Boss, this place is gloriously out of control!” That statement changed my thinking about walking with Jesus. You see, if all is out of your control, then it must be turned over to the only one who can take control!I want to challenge you to make it your mission in 2019 to participate in the irresistible good news of the Kingdom. Live your life gloriously out of control, allowing Jesus to take control of everything!
