The third miracle Jesus performed to lovingly accommodate himself to the Jewish people is the healing of a man born blind. The religious leaders had seen a person’s sight restored from time to time, after losing his sight. But the person who was born blind could not be healed. That kind of miracle will only happen when the Messiah shows up!

About 6 months before Jesus was crucified, Jesus gave sight to a man who was blind from birth. The religious leadership were so threatened by this act Jesus performed on the Sabbath and they asked the man who was healed what he thought about Jesus’ credibility. The formerly blind man responds, “Well, here is an amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes. We know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He hears him. Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind. If this man were not from God, He could do nothing.” (John 9)

The progression of faith is: 1) “The man called Jesus.” (9:11a). 2) “He is a prophet.” (9:17). 3) “He is the one who does God’s will.” (9:31). 4) He worshiped him (9:38).The Pharisees are a reminder to us that not everyone can “see” and “hear” Jesus. Spiritual blindness is a curse of the devil and worse than being born blind. Because of his love for you, Jesus will do anything to open your eyes to see and ears to hear.
