I’m more convinced than ever that Jesus is the ‘gospel’-the ‘good news’! This means that Jesus is God’s Messiah, demonstrating God’s unconditional love for mankind, no matter man’s performance or condition. There are three examples of this kind of love through what Jesus did. He performed three miracles that were not directly fulfilling any prophecies, but Jesus accommodated himself to the cultural teachings of the Jewish people. They believed only the Messiah would be able to perform certain kinds of miracles. Jesus met them right at the point of their cultural beliefs and hopes by showing up and doing what they had been taught for many decades about their coming Messiah.

The first of these three miracles was the healing of a leper. A leper came to Him and bowed down before Him, and said, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”Jesus stretched out His hand and touched him, saying,”I am willing; be cleansed.”And immediately hisleprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him,”See that you tell no one; butgo, show yourself to the priest and present theoffering that Moses commanded, as a testimony to them.” (Matthew 8)

It was always said that no leprosy can be healed, UNTIL the Messiah comes. Now, Jesus performs the unthinkable, something only the Messiah can do. He touched and healed a leper. Jesus warned the former leper to be silent about his healing, but go to his priest to perform the proper sacrifice. Being the first ever to perform this sacrifice, the priest will market this first-time ever event in a very big way…a sign the Messiah is here!
