Advancing the Conversation of Jesus
God set up all of the laws of the universe for your benefit. They are set up to help you live life to the fullest-to bring a more abundant life. You break those laws of the universe, you didn’t just break God’s laws; violation of those laws will break you.
C. S. Lewis once criticized those who believed that man could have a personal relationship with his Creator. He said, “It’s absurd! It’s as absurd as thinking that Shakespeare could have had a personal relationship with one of his characters, like Hamlet.” Later, after thinking about it, Lewis came to a totally different conclusion: “Shakespeare could have had a real and personal relationship with Hamlet, if he had written himself as a character in the play.” That’s exactly what I believe Jesus to be-the character God wrote into the play of life who is able to establish a real and personal relationship with mankind-one person at a time.
God relates to people through Jesus. Jesus is the Good News that you can have a relationship with the Creator-God of the universe. In a very real sense, Jesus is the love-letter God sent to you to connect you up with God’s love! It’s your own personal relationship with your Creator through Jesus. This is why Jesus announced that He didn’t come to condemn the world; He came to convince the world of the truth about God and the possible relationship with Him. Unfortunately, the religious seem to take on the primary job of condemning everyone else, contrary to the intent and heart of God through Jesus.
We get some insight into what Jesus believed about God’s love for you in His prayer to the Father. He says: “Father, I desire that they also, whom You have given Me, be with Me where I am, so that they may see My glory which You have given Me, for You loved Me before the foundation of the world. “O righteous Father, although the world has not known You, yet I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me; and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.” (John 17:22-26)
Then I think it’s interesting to note what Paul’s conclusion was about the love of God for those who are followers of Jesus. He says: For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39)
This is why I say that SECRET #3 is the most basic and overriding secret of all: The follower of Jesus comes to know and accept God’s unconditional love for him. Well, how’s it going? Are you beginning to get the picture that God loves you no matter what? Think it over and then think it over again!
