Advancing the Conversation of Jesus
GOT A MINUTE?
How is the Good News (the Gospel) experienced from day to day? I believe a clue to answer this question most clearly is to see what the theme was throughout the book of Acts. The primary theme is throughout the 28 chapters of Acts. I discovered this repeated theme, when our little group made the decision to read each month the 28 chapters of Acts. We did this for 3 months.
The primary theme is in the form of a couplet: The couplet is Jesus and the Kingdom.
FIRST: To these He also presented Himself alive after His suffering, by many convincing proofs, appearing to them over a period of forty days and speaking of the things concerning the kingdom of God.(Acts 1)
SECOND: But when they believed Philip preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus, the Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike.(Acts 8)
THIRD: Paul, living in Rome at the end of his life, was spending his time teaching all who were interested from him: Paul was explaining to them by solemnly testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.AND LATER IN THIS CHAPTER, LUKE SAYS: And he stayed two full years in his own rented quarters and was welcoming all who came to him, preaching the kingdom of God and teaching concerning the Lord Jesus Christ with all openness, unhindered. (Acts 28)
Do you see the couplet? It’s all about Jesus and the Kingdom! Jesus and his teachings are lived out in the realm of the Kingdom of God. SO, we can experience the reality of Jesus’ teachings and principles as we live on a different level than the kingdom of man. Do you want to experience Jesus’ teachings? They are counterintuitive and Jesus moves to the beat of a different drummer. HERE IT IS: Follow in the steps of Jesus and seek first the Kingdom of God every day! Refuse to be conformed to the mold of the world system, because you live on a higher level! Now, pay attention and do it!
