Advancing the Conversation of Jesus

Hearing Jesus and doing what he says is a dominant theme of Jesus throughout his teachings. So, how do you know when you are listening to Jesus and his promptings? How do you know whether you are clearly hearing the words of Jesus or not?

Here are a few things I know Jesus will never ever communicate to you:

  • Jesus will never communicate to you any message that is self-destructive. He is on your side, not against you!
  • Jesus will never communicate to you to hate someone or to hold back from forgiveness. He’s about loving everyone, especially your enemies.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you that it’s most important to be a Christian or any other cultural religious system.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you that you are better than any one else.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you that you or your group is better than any other group.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you how to talk with your loved ones who have already died.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you that your primary practice is to go to Church. He wants you to be the church!
  • Jesus will never communicate to you to gossip against another person.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you to do your best to convert the world.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you to shun or condemn sinners.
  • Jesus will never communicate to you to show off your religiosity.

If you think you’re hearing this kind of thing from Jesus, then either you have some wires crossed, got a batch of bad salsa, or are listening to the wrong voices.

I can share these observations confidently, because Jesus never did these things before. Why would Jesus change his tune and communicate these things today? If you are hearing from Jesus, you will be motivated to walk, talk, think, and love like Jesus. Jesus said, My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me.”So, are you hearing the voice of Jesus or are you hearing another voice and calling it Jesus?
